Frequently Asked Questions

1.  What is the rationale for doing this conference?

Over the past two years a number of pastors and key lay leaders have asked us to help them start a counseling ministry in their church.  It was not possible for us to meet the requests so we decided that offering a short conference would be the best way to serve those churches.

2.  Who are the speakers?

All of our speakers are the key personnel in their respective areas of the ministry.  For example, Dr. Bob Smith helped to begin the counseling ministry at our church and he will be able to provide key insights on those early days.  Pastor Steve Viars has effectlively led our church members to understand and appreciate the value of the counseling ministry to the growth of the entire church.  Joe Blake is one of our deacons and the person who organized the Biblical Counseling Traiining Conference for many years.  Dan Wickert is another deacon and he has also contributed in many ways to the growth and development of the counseling ministry.  Pastor Rob Green serves as the pastor currently responsible for the counseling ministry.  In other words, you will be hearing short, interactive lectures from the people who have been used by God to bring the counseling ministry to the place it is today.

3.  Why does every person need to read the manual before they come?

We believe that we can make the most effective use of your time if you have read the manual before you arrive.  It will provide the foundation for the conference, which will allow us to talk about the various challenges and hurdles that must be overcome to bring the dream of a counseling ministry to fruition.

4.  Will we be exposed to Faith's counseling minsitry?

Yes.  Our plan is to begin the conference on Monday evening so that conference attendees can see first hand how it all runs.  All conference guests will have the opportunity to sit in on one of our conseling sessions or to view a video of an actual case (this will depend on the size of the conference).  In that way, we hope all guests will see how we run the ministry on Monday night and then learn how to start the ministry themselves on Tuesday.
