Syllabus


I am looking forward to another year of teaching Home Economics.  During the first semester we will learn cooking basics such as measuring, mixing, chopping, baking, sautéing, browning, boiling, etc.  We will go through the new Food Pyramid and discuss healthy snack and meal options.  We will also have a unit on meal planning, so look forward to your students helping you out in that area!  We will end the semester with our “Eagle Café”.  Last year the students really enjoyed practicing mass production in the kitchen.  We made a total of 35 meals for our “customers”.  It was a lot of fun, and we hope to have even more this year.  After the Christmas break we will start our sewing unit.  We will learn the basics of the machine and have several projects to choose from; a stuffed animal, pillow, a tote bag, a purse, and a tie (to name a few).
